Shopper Transport Buses - update
There are now 27 shopper buses in Essex providing direct access to local services.
Traditionally these buses have been provided in rural areas but the two
latest have been introduced in the urban conurbations of Hadleigh and
Basildon as a result of withdrawal of commercial services. The two new
services are:
Hadleigh Shopper service (SB71) – This started on 18
July 2011 and takes residents to Morrisons every Monday and Thursday
from Woodfield Road, Hadleigh. This service is provided by Wyvern
Community Transport.
Basildon Shopper service (SB81) – A
gap in service provision has been identified in Afflets Court and Glebe
Fields, Basildon. ‘Kickstart’ funding has been agreed for a
shopper bus service. Following consultation with residents, the
service will provide three return journeys on three days to Basildon Bus
station. It is hoped that the service will become sustainable
after six months. This is due to start 06 September 2011 and will
be operated by Basildon District Volunteer Carers.
Improved access to Hospitals for Harwich residents
Harwich Hospital Hopper (HH1)
From Monday 05 September 2011 residents of Harwich, Dovercourt,
Parkeston, Ramsey and Little Oakley will receive a new bus service
giving direct access from their homes to Colchester Hospitals (St.
Helena Hospice, Colchester General, Oaks Hospital and Essex County
Hospital). The Harwich Hospital Hopper has timed arrival and departure
stops at the hospitals. All journeys must be booked the day before
passengers wish to travel and concessionary pass holders can travel
free of charge. Contact Harwich Connexions on 01255 552010 for
further details.
