St Johns Site - Statement from the Town Council

Residents may have seen reports in local media concerning the proposals for re-development of the St John’s site in Epping town centre. Epping Forest District Council made a statement on 17th July on their website which can be found here. Continental Market visits Epping

On Saturday 12th July, the Town continued the french theme from Monday's visit of the Tour de France by welcoming a french market to the High Street. The market featured specialist cheese stalls, deli foods, jewellery and accessoriesas well as delicious food to take-away. Town Mayor Barbara Scruton and local MP Eleanor Laing both tried their hands at making crepes with varying degrees of success! Ms Scruton said "We're delighted to be able to bring some french flavours into the town, particularly at the end of a week where we have embraced the Tour de France. Epping art brightens up empty shop

The Town Council was delighted to be able to bring local art to the High Street and at the same time clean up an empty shop that was an eyesore. The former West End Furniture shop in Epping High Street was looking uncared for and sorry for itself with whitewashed windows and fly posting on the glass. The Town Council contacted owners Mezesphere, who will be opening a turkish restaurant in the premises later in the year, who were only too happy to turn the unit over to the Town Council to brighten it up. Fun for everyone at Epping Town Show

After a shaky start to the day with the weather, thge sky brightened and the same came out onto what was one of the best Town Shows ever! The show opened with the excellent Dhol Drummers and the events and displays in the Arena drew crowds all day. It was fantastic to see so many local groups and organisations at the show and so many families enjoying the entertainment and activities. Putting up the High Street Bunting for the Tour de France

This evening Derek Whitbread showed us why he is the Townsperson of the Year by rounding up a team of volunteers, all colleagues from Epping Fire Station, to put up the bunting for the Tour de France in the HIgh Street. Celebrate Bastille Day Weekend at a French market in Epping High Street

A taste of France comes to Epping on Saturday, July 12, when Epping Town Council hosts a French market to mark Bastille Day weekend. The market will commemorate the beginning of the French Revolution and the Storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789. Organised by international market event operator Savoir Fayre Ltd, and held in partnership with Epping Town Council, the market will be in the High Street from 9am to 5.30pm with stalls selling authentic French and continental food. Stalls will be selling bread, cheeses, pastries, cakes, sweets, condiments and charcuterie, as well as Spanish paella and couscous and Italian confectionery.
