Epping Society Christmas Lunch

Town Mayor Barbara Scrution joined around 40 members of the Epping Society for their Annual Christmas lunch which was held this year at Wildwood in Epping High Street. Members enjoyed an interesting talk from local businessman and Freeman of Epping John Batchelor on his family's move to the town, changes in the High Street business landscape and local characters. The Epping Society is a local organisation whose aim is to actively protect, conserve, promote and enhance the beauty of Epping. At 3.45 as darkness falls, the Christmas Market comes alive - the Christmas illuminations and the lighted market stalls create a lovely atmosphere as the Town Mayor officially opens the market. We then have the award of the Audrey Rose cup to the business that has created the best festive shop window display an

Epping Christmas Lights 2014

Many residents will not know who puts up the Christmas Lights in Epping. Most residents will be aware though that for many years up until this year, we used to have real christmas trees suspended above the shopfronts with nails and string (yes, really!) and may be wondering why this has changed. Update on Old Pastures Village Green Application

The Town Council has received notification from Essex County Council that our application under the Commons Act 2006 for the land to be registered as a village green has now been formally lodged. The process from here is that the application is advertised (we will post an update when this happens) and there is an objection period of 6-7 weeks for anyone to object and give reasons for the objection within this time frame. A copy of the notice is placed on site and in the local newspaper. A copy of our application is left on deposit at the District Council offices and the land owner receives a copy. If no objections are received the application is passed to a senior officer within Essex Lega
