Swaine's Green May Fayre

The Friends of Swaine's Annual May Fayre is being held this Saturday, 2nd May. The event is held on the Green itself, which is accessed via the Lower Swaines Recreation Ground. The Fayre is always a terrific family event with stalls, activities, displays, food and drink and helps to support the ongoing maintenance of this fantastic community woodland.

Flowers for retiring former Mayor

Former Epping town mayor Janet Hedges was presented with a bouquet of flowers to mark the end of her 12 years as a town councillor at last night’s Council meeting. During her time on the council Mrs Hedges was a member of the Planning Committee and represented the Council on various organisations including the Theydon Trust and the Epping-Eppingen Twinning Association. Mrs Hedges served as town Mayor in 2009. Mayor Barbara Scruton, who presented Mrs Hedges with the flowers and a card at the end of her last council meeting last night (Tuesday), said: “Thank you for everything you have done. Who's standing for election

The candidates for the Town Council elections have been published. The Town Council has 12 Councillors in two wards and the whole Council is elected at once. This year, the Town Council election falls on May 7th, the same day as the national elections. Elections are contested in both wards. In St Johns Ward, there are 7 candidates standing: ST JOHNS - Nigel Avey (Conservative), Simon Bullough (Labour), Leslie Burrows (Conservative), Hugh Pegrum (Conservative), Grahame Scruton (Conservative), Alan Smith (Conservative), Michael Wright (Conservative).
