The Town Council organises a number of community events each year, including the Town Show in July, Epping Christmas Market in December, community competitions and awards.

Competitions and awards that the Town Council organises are Townsperson of the Year; Civic Award for new buildings; Allotment Awards; Best Summer Floral Display Rosebowl Award; the Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition; Audrey Rose Cup for Christmas Shop Front and the newly added Epping Best Dressed Christmas Home Competition.

Remembrance in Epping 2023

FRIDAY 10 NOVEMBER

10.30am Service at the memorial plaques to the Civilian casualties and HMS Sickle in the Memorial Garden outside St John’s Church.
11.00am Dedication of the Garden of Remembrance at the War Memorial
11.30am Service of Remembrance at Epping Cemetery (by the Commonwealth War Graves).

Those attending are invited to visit the Hemnall Social Club afterwards.

SUNDAY 12 NOVEMBER

11.00am Service of Remembrance at St Alban’s Church, Coopersale
1.55pm The Remembrance Day Parade will assemble at the EFDC Civic Offices car park in the High Street
2.10pm The Parade will move off and proceed to the War Memorial, led by the Epping Forest Pipe Band.
2.20pm Wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial.
2.45pm The Parade will march off along the High Street to St John’s Church, paying compliments to the Town Mayor and the Chairman of the District Council on the way.
3.00pm Service of Remembrance at St John’s Church.
4.00pm Refreshments at the Epping Hall. Those preferring something a little stronger are cordially invited to the Hemnall Social Club.

Epping Town Show

The Town Show is an annual community fun day on one of Epping’s recreation ground to encourage community organisations and businesses to raise their profile as well as offering a variety of outdoor activities including arena displays, funfair rides, entertainment and much more. In 2024, Epping Town Show will take place on Sunday 7th July from 12 noon to 5pm outside in Stonards Hill Recreation Ground.

Christmas Market

This is a traditional Christmas market with entertainment, food, gifts, crafts, Santa and festive fun. The Town Council also provide the Christmas lighting in the town centre including the mini trees on the High Street and large Christmas tree on the Piazza. The Christmas Market aims to help the local businesses on the High Street and to mark the celebration of Christmas for residents. This year, Epping Christmas Market will be on Saturday 2nd December 2023 from 10am to 4pm.
